Not every newborn session requires a sleepy baby to create beautiful, timeless portraits. This sweet 26-day-old baby boy proved exactly that during his newborn session at my studio in Baton Rouge. While many parents worry that their baby staying awake may affect their gallery, awake newborn portraits can be incredibly meaningful and full of personality.

One of my favorite parts of this session was the beautiful eye contact we captured throughout Sedric’s portraits. His bright eyes and curious expressions created such a strong connection in each image, giving his family portraits that feel both emotional and timeless. Awake newborn photography allows us to document those tiny details and early expressions that change so quickly in the first weeks of life.

As a newborn photographer serving Baton Rouge and surrounding areas, I always reassure parents that every baby is different — and beautiful images can be created whether your little one sleeps soundly or stays wide awake throughout the session.
